University of Hamburg
WebsiteUniversität Hamburg is international and cosmopolitan, qualities integral to being what we call the "gateway to the world of science and scholarship." This openess is inspired by the city of Hamburg itself, as a harbor city positioned both politically and culturally as a "gateway to the world." In all of its scientific and scholarly pursuits, the University upholds the city's long-standing tradition of openness, tolerance, and international cooperation and universality. Universität Hamburg’s internationalization strategy (PDF), which was developed in the wake of the internationalization audit, sets forth the University’s areas of focus and its goals for internationalization.
For this reason, the University cooperates with numerous international universities and welcomes international students and academics to Hamburg. The University is also a member of several international higher education organizations and has signed the Magna Charta Universitatum, the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education and the Code of Conduct.
Universität Hamburg is devoted to sustainable science and scholarship and its faculties have made great strides towards sustainability in research and teaching.
The interdisciplinary Center for a Sustainable University (KNU) is a platform for the development and review of new academic procedures and methods on questions of sustainability.
One of the Center's major responsibilities is to promote academic discourse on the topic of sustainability and to help ensure that issues of sustainability play a significant role in all of the University's programs and activities.
