Mid Sweden University is a global university with a regional commitment where they do research and educate for life. Their work leads to increased attractiveness, relevance and quality, as well as a sustainable development.

Its overall goals include that the academic environments should be strong and take on global challenges, that the activities on the global arena should fuel and contribute to the development of the region, that their research and education should make knowledge accessible for more people throughout life and lastly, their study and working environments should attract students and employees who contribute to a global and regional development.

Sustainable Development

Mid Sweden University’s strategy 2019-2023 emphasises the importance of sustainable development and it is clarified that it is an area that the University wants to strengthen. Education and research will be oriented towards building a sustainable society and the University should actively and visibly contribute to the UN’s global goals.

In addition, the sustainability culture among the university’s staff and students will be strengthened. But in order to be able to work sustainably, you need to know what it means. Only when all staff know how the University defines sustainability can it become a natural part of everyday work and contribute to sustainable development. To achieve this, the project HIMUV wants to map the knowledge about and the possibility of sustainability work among the university’s different professional categories. This is in order to be able to design training material for employees and suggest procedures for its use.
