UiB joins Global Coalition to protect biodiversity
The university of Bergen becomes the first university worldwide to be part of the European Commission’s Global Coalition United for Biodiversity.
"It is time for us to reconnect with nature” said EU Commissioner Sinkevicius. And that's what UiB is aiming for.
Adding its voice to more than 200 institutions and organisations from more than 47 countries worldwide, UiB recently decided to join the Global Coalition in order to take part in the fight against climate change. The university has a long tradition in research and education on biodiversity, climate change and the environment, and a strong sense of commitment regarding the UN’s 2030 Agenda. Hoping to gather 500 insititutions ahead of COP 15 later this year, the Norwegian institution now urges all universities from around the world to join the Global Coalition United for Biodiversity.
