The International Green Gown Awards 2021 Winners are announced !

The winners of the 2021 International Green Gown Awards were announced virtually during the UN HLPF on 7th July 2021.

The online ceremony took place following the HESI special event, as part of the United Nations High Level Political Forum.

The International Green Gown Awards celebrate the exceptional sustainability initiatives being undertaken by universities and colleges across the world. Coordinated by EAUC, the IGGAs are endorsed by United Nations Environment and supported by the International Association of Universities (IAU), the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU), L’Agence universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF), and the Higher Education Sustainability Initiative (HESI).

Established as the most prestigious recognition of sustainability best practice within the education sector globally, the International Green Gown Awards provide benchmarks for excellence and are aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

The Winners for the different categories are :

- Facens University Center (Brazil) and The Chinese University of Hong Kong (China) for 'Benefitting Society'.

- Universidad Tecnológica Metropolitana (Chile) and Lappeenranta-Lahti University of Technology (Finland) for 'Creating Impact'.

- Covenant University (Nigeria) and University of Gloucestershire (UK) for 'Next Generation Learning and Skills'.

- oikos St Gallen (Switzerland) for 'Student Engagement'.

- Polytech Montpellier (France) and Keele University (UK) for 'Sustainability Institution of the Year'
