Sustainable Development Goals
As Climate change and environmental degradation increase everyday, it is urgent to take action and adopt more sustainable ways of living and evolving. Creating Green jobs is a priority as it would allow for a climate-resilient development and could potentially create millions of jobs. In that context, the International Labour Organization published several reports (4 presented here) on Green Jobs to promote the importance of greening the economy and transitioning to a more sustainable professional world. The first report is entitled "World Employment and Social Outlook 2018: Greening with jobs" and it focuses on how climate change and environmental degradation will impact the labour markets, affecting both the volume and quality of employment, and quantifies the shifts expected to take place within and between sectors. The report shows that a just transition to a more sustainable economy offers much potential for job creation and the promotion of decent work. It also looks at key issues linked with the path to a greener economy, including macroeconomic and environmental policy, public programmes, worker protection and skills. The second report is called "Skills for a greener future: a global view" and presents an analysis based on a 32-countries study. The analysis shows evidence of good practices collected in the surveyed countries and demonstrates how skills development can underpin the green transition. "Green Jobs for Youth : boosting decent Jobs for young people, greening the economy" clarifies the "Decent Jobs for Youth" initiative. The project was launched to scale up action and impact on youth employment under the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The fourth report published by ILO is "Growing green: fostering a green entrepreneurial ecosystem for youth". The report reviews the entrepreneurial ecosystem to assess capacity to foster young green entrepreneurship and to address the social and environmental challenges.
